ON THE WATERFRONT

Extending the energy of investment in recreation and housing along Philadelphia's Delaware River waterfront, this apartment project occupies an abandoned pier just to the north of the Ben Franklin Bridge. The building mediates the dramatic shadows projected by the bridge on the south side of the site, orienting a lightly tempered circulation spine facing the bridge to the south. On the north edge, loft-style units with varying lengths plug in to the single-loaded corridor, creating opportunities for projecting and inset balconies and views past the adjacent marina and upriver.
