BAY AREA
The projecting bay window has a long history as a strategy for providing additional daylight, unusual views, and a few more square feet for urban townhouses. The Philadelphia zoning code permits a very specific by-right geometry for bays, which served as the point of departure for a more playful take on the façade projection. A variety of angled surfaces slice each bay in a different orientation, creating individually unique views and daylighting experiences on the top two floors of each unit.
