EL OF A VIEW
The Front Street corridor in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood has seen rapid development in recent years, with formerly vacant lots adjacent to the elevated train generating renewed interest. This 3-unit building occupies a lot fronting the train line and sandwiched between two vacant parcels with a triangulated plan addressing each site edge with strategic cutaways meeting the open space requirements of the zoning. The facade geometry creates opportunities for unique views and outdoor decks facing the train as well as at the rear of the building at each level. A ground floor commercial space and lot line mural activates the expanded sidewalk and painted gold accents at facade cutaways create a colorful atmosphere at minimal cost.
