Navigating a challenging site occupied by a historic mansion and former boxing arena along Broad Street, the design for this 90-room hotel accentuates the contrast between historic and contemporary construction practices. The existing building frontage is preserved as a new lobby, restaurant, and meeting rooms, with prefabricated, wood-frame hotel units inserted behind. A thin slice of new construction extends forward over the parking entrance, creating a moment where old and new coexist.
